Irish envoy honors Princess Basma and women ambassadors

Jordan Daily – The Irish ambassador to Jordan Marianne Bolger hosted a lunch on Thursday for her fellow women ambassadors to celebrate women in leadership and pay tribute to Princess Basma bint Talal, a prominent advocate for development and women’s rights in the kingdom.

Princess Basma, the sister of the late King Hussein and the aunt of King Abdullah II , has been involved in various humanitarian and social causes, especially those related to children, women and refugees.

Ambassador Bolger posted on Friday a picture of the event on platform X, saying” Yesterday, as part of #StBrigidsDay, celebrating women in leadership, I hosted a lunch with my fellow women Ambassadors to honour the inspirational & truly wonderful HRH Princess Basma bint Talal, who has dedicated herself to development work, including children and women in Jordan.”

St. Brigid’s Day, an Irish festival that marks the start of spring and honors Saint Brigid, one of Ireland’s patroness saint.
