Islamic Action Front criticizes new cabinet, calls it “disappointing”

Jordan Daily – The Islamic Action Front Party said Wednesday that the new cabinet lineup was disappointing and continuation to the same approach that has led the country into its current crises.

In a statement, the party described the the new cabinet as more of a cabinet reshuffle, “recycling” the same faces that had previously proven ineffective in managing their portfolios.

The party emphasized that the new cabinet does not reflect the will of the Jordanian people, as expressed in the elections, and was not in line with the genuine foundation for a new phase of political modernization.

The statement highlighted that public expectations were for a government capable of providing swift, medium- and long-term economic solutions to Jordan’s challenges. It also called for the government to expand freedoms, amend laws restricting civil liberties, and release political detainees.

The party stressed that the current government formation is not aligned with the critical circumstances Jordan is facing. It called for a national approach to government formation based on democratic principles, leading to governments comprised of competent, honest officials with true public mandates and reflective of the popular will.
