Jordan Daily – The Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday that initial investigations into the shooting incident on the opposite side of the King Hussein Bridge confirmed that the shooter was a Jordanian citizen named Maher Diab Hussein Al-Jazi, a resident of the Al-Husseiniya area in Ma’an Governorate. He had crossed the bridge as the driver of a cargo truck transporting goods from Jordan to the West Bank.
The ministry emphasized that preliminary findings suggest the incident was an isolated act, and investigations are ongoing to uncover all the details.
The ministry also stated that coordination is underway between the relevant authorities to repatriate the body of the attacker for burial in Jordan.
Additionally, the ministry confirmed that all Jordanian truck drivers questioned after the incident have been released, and more than 100 trucks returned to Jordan in succession throughout the day.
The ministry noted that authorities are also addressing the issue of the bridge’s closure following the incident.
