Jordan Daily – Israel has proposed a deal with Hamas that would involve releasing some Palestinian prisoners, halting hostilities for a short period, and pulling out of parts of the Gaza Strip, Israeli Channel 13 reported on Wednesday.
The report, citing unnamed Israeli officials involved in the negotiations, said the Israeli army is willing to withdraw from some areas in Gaza that it had previously targeted in its military operations.
A senior military source told Channel 13 that Israel has no objection to withdrawing from some areas, even though Hamas would claim it as a victory, but that this is something Israel planned to do anyway.
The report said Israel has also agreed to free some prominent Palestinian prisoners in return for Hamas releasing 40 detainees, mostly women, elderly and sick people.
The deal would also include a temporary ceasefire of one or two weeks, the report said, without giving a timeframe for its implementation.
