Jordan Daily – A seven-day truce between Hamas and Israel in the Gaza Strip collapsed on Friday, as the Israeli army resumed its attacks on the strip after accusing the Islamist group of firing a rocket into its territory.
The temporary ceasefire, which began on November 24 and was extended twice, had enabled the swap of dozens of hostages and prisoners and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged coastal strip.
Negotiations to extend the truce for another day, which would have involved further prisoner releases, were still underway when the Israeli army said it had intercepted a rocket launch from Gaza and responded with air strikes.
The truce has raised hopes of ending the latest round of violence that has killed thousands people, mostly Palestinians, since October 7.
