Jordan Daily – Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Embassy of Italy in Amman, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the FAO Representation in Jordan, and the Agricultural Credit Corporation (ACC) embarked on a joint visit to the project site “Sustainable Production and Utilization of Agro-natural Resources (SPUAR)” in Maan Governorate.
During the visit to five water harvesting wells and two food processing projects in Wadi Mousa and Shobak, Minister’s representative, the Italian Ambassador, AICS Amman Head of Office, and FAO Representative in Jordan engaged with beneficiaries of the food processing projects. Success stories were shared, and beneficiaries showcased their expertise in food processing through discussions and presentations.
On behalf of the Minister of Agriculture, Eng. Khalid Hnaifat, Director-General of the Agricultural Credit Corporation, Mr. Mohammad Dojan, highlighted the ongoing efforts to achieve economic modernization in Jordan, particularly in peripheral regions.
In a statement , he underscored the Corporation’s commitment to providing subsidized financing and supporting rural development, women, and unemployed youth, in partnership with FAO.
Italian Ambassador to Jordan, Luciano Pezzotti, commended the dedication and resilience of Maan communities involved in the SPUAR project , emphasizing the transformative impact of collaborative efforts in enhancing food security and creating income-generating opportunities, expressing Italy’s pride in partnering with Jordan on this initiative.
Eng. Nabil Assaf, FAO Representative in Jordan, reiterated the project’s goal of enhancing food security and increasing income-generation opportunities for vulnerable communities in Maan , noting the importance of sustainable development and solidarity with the people of Maan Governorate.
SPUAR is already making strides in empowering Maan communities through sustainable practices, serving as a promising model for future initiatives.
