The funds aim to boost reforms focused on inclusivity, sustainability, and resilience in Jordan’s education system, UNESCO said in a statement.

Italian Ambassador Luciano Pezzotti said: “Italy views education as a cornerstone of sustainable development and a vital element in the strong and enduring partnership between our two nations… We are confident that by empowering the Ministry of Education through initiatives like the System Strengthening Partnership, we are investing in the future prosperity and stability of Jordan.”

UNESCO Representative to Jordan, Noha Bawazir, noted: “Italy’s generous contribution today exemplifies the power of international solidarity in shaping the future of education… Together, we are laying the foundation for a more resilient and inclusive education system in Jordan.”

The additional funding will support the development of Jordan’s new Education Sector Plan through 2030, improvements to school infrastructure, and integration of climate resilience. It will also help Jordan progress toward Sustainable Development Goal 4, ensuring quality education for all.

Other SSP contributors include Canada, Norway, and Switzerland.
