
Jordan Daily – Japan extended a grant of US$122,881 to Greater Karak Municipality for two waste collection trucks under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP).
A grant agreement was signed by Japanese Ambassador ASARI Hideki and Karak Mayor Moh’d Maaitah.
This grant aims to improve waste collection in Karak City, which has a population of 130,600, including Syrian refugees, the Japanese embassy in Amman said in a statement.

Ambassador ASARI praised the Municipality’s long-standing dedication to public services, while Mayor Maaitah highlighted the positive impact the trucks will have on service efficiency and sustainability.
Since 1993, under the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects, Japan has extended more than 10.5 million US Dollars for 160 projects across Jordan, supporting non-governmental organizations, schools, hospitals, and local governments.
