JAPM unveils new administrative body, sets sights on pharmaceutical industry and export growth

Jordan Daily – The General Assembly of the Jordanian Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (JAPM)  has unanimously elected a new administrative body.

The newly elected members include Tarek Darwaza as President, Dr. Khaled Harb as Vice President, Dr. Abdulmonem Al -Ali as Secretary, Dr. Fadi Al Atrash as Treasurer, and Faisal Sukhtian as a member of the management body.

According to a statement released on Wednesday, the General Assembly approved the financial statements and the annual report for the past year during its 28th annual regular meeting held yesterday. It also elected a certified legal auditor for the current year.

The General Assembly reviewed the achievements of the Association during 2023, emphasizing the continued diligent work to implement the union’s strategies and future plans through cooperation between all members and official entities to serve the national pharmaceutical industry.

JAPM President Tarek Darwaza highlighted the importance of the Jordanian pharmaceutical industry sector in boosting the national economy through its key role in achieving pharmaceutical security, reducing the therapeutic bill in the Kingdom, providing job opportunities for Jordanians, increasing the volume of exports, and expanding the scope of global export markets to reach approximately 80 countries worldwide.

The  association’s Secretary-General, Dr. Hanan Al Sboul, pointed out that the pharmaceutical industry sector is one of the most prominent main industrial sectors within the engines of growth in the economic modernization vision for the next ten years. This vision focused on promoting Jordan to become a regional center for pharmaceutical manufacturing, enhancing research and development, and expanding in the manufacture of biological medicines with the aim of increasing its drug exports.
