Jordan Daily – Jordan Businessmen Association (JBA) President Hamdi Tabbaa met Georgia’s Ambassador to Amman, Archil Dzuliashvili, to discuss establishing a joint Jordanian-Georgian Business Council in early November, the association said on Tuesday.
Tabbaa said the proposed council, to be launched with the Business Association of Georgia, would serve as a platform to exchange information, expand investment and boost trade, particularly in tourism, food industries and agricultural products. He stressed the need for direct air links between the two countries to facilitate business travel and investment flows.
“Georgia is an important destination for investment and trade in the region, offering a strategic location and diverse opportunities,” Tabbaa said, adding that JBA is keen to build strategic partnerships and open new markets for Jordanian businesses.
The Georgian ambassador welcomed the initiative, highlighting his country’s interest in deepening economic ties with Jordan. He underlined the potential for greater cooperation in higher education, training and academic exchange, noting that about 2,000 Jordanian students are currently enrolled in Georgian universities.
Dzuliashvili also called for joint economic events and business delegations to foster direct contacts and create a supportive environment for joint investments.
Trade between Jordan and Georgia stood at $3.1 million in 2023, down from $8.3 million in 2022, according to official figures.
