JBA, Malaysian Ambassador discuss boosting Jordan- Malaysia economic ties

Jordan Daily -The Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) said on Thursday it is seeking to strengthen economic, investment and trade cooperation with Malaysia, following talks between JBA Chairman Ayman Al- Alawneh and Malaysian Ambassador to Jordan Mohamad Nasri bin Abdul Rahman.

Alawneh said deeper cooperation would support long-term partnerships, citing complementary opportunities in industry, information technology, renewable energy, medical tourism and logistics. He highlighted the importance of establishing a joint Jordanian-Malaysian Business Council to ease investment challenges, enhance business networking and explore direct connectivity between Amman and Kuala Lumpur.

He also stressed the need to better utilise bilateral agreements to expand trade volumes and promote two-way tourism.

The Malaysian ambassador welcomed the proposal, describing the joint business council as a key step to unlocking new investment and commercial opportunities. He also underscored the role of cultural, tourism and educational exchanges in strengthening bilateral ties, noting that around 1,600 Jordanians study in Malaysia, while about 2,000 Malaysian students are enrolled in Jordan.

Trade between the two countries reached about JD122 million in the first nine months of 2025, the association said.
