JHCO rejects false, defamatory claims over Gaza aid

Jordan Daily – The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) has rejected the “misleading content, lies and baseless accusations” published by a London-based news website regarding Jordan’s humanitarian aid to Gaza.

In a statement on Friday, the JHCO said the outlet had submitted “biased, accusatory” questions late Thursday, demanding a response within three hours — a move the charity described as “premeditated” and aimed at “tarnishing Jordan’s image and undermine its role.”

“The purpose of questioning the organisation appeared to be creating the impression of neutrality and objectivity,” the JHCO said, adding the questions misrepresented the scale and details of the relief efforts.

The charity emphasised that donations were delivered “without deducting any amount or incurring any costs or fees.” It noted that Jordan had fully covered the costs of 125 air drops and 102 relief flights.

The JHCO said the reported air drop costs were inaccurate, stating that a single drop cost between $210,000 and $450,000. “The website’s false claim that Jordan profited from the operation is both shameful and defamatory,” it said.

Jordan also covered early land convoy costs, with each truck costing $2,200, the JHCO said, adding all spending was documented and met international standards.

The statement said the overall direct aid costs were in the tens of millions of dollars, with indirect costs reaching hundreds of millions.

The organisation is operating medical and humanitarian facilities in Gaza, Nablus, Ramallah, and Jenin.

It announced plans to take legal action against the website and “all those who circulated or propagated these lies,” warning that it would not tolerate the “deliberate distortion and defamation.”
