Jordan Daily – The Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) and the British Council signed an agreement on Monday to launch a project to empower Jordanian youth and enhance their participation in society.
The Youth Connect project, funded by the British Council, aims to enable young people to play leadership roles in their communities, and find creative solutions to the most pressing issues, in collaboration with decision-makers and stakeholders.
According to a statement , the project will target 90 young men and women in the southern governorates of Tafila and Ma’an, where JOHUD operates Princess Basma Centers for Development. The participants will receive training in communication, capacity building and leadership skills.
JOHUD’s Executive Director Farah Daghestani said the partnership with the British Council is part of JOHUD’s efforts to achieve the national goals of enhancing the role of youth and women in society, and contributing to comprehensive and sustainable development.
The Director of the British Council Alex Lambert, said the project is a new stage in the long-standing partnership with JOHUD, and reflects the mutual interest in youth empowerment and engagement.
He praised JOHUD’s role in human development, by providing opportunities for women and youth, and said the council is looking forward to working with JOHUD to meet the needs and aspirations of young people, and enhance their role in public life.
The British Council delegation was briefed on some of the initiatives implemented by JOHUD through its network of 52 centers across the Kingdom, and their positive impact on the target groups.
