Jordan Daily – Jordan on Saturday condemned remarks by U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee suggesting it would be “fine” if Israel took over the entire Middle East, calling the comments provocative and a violation of international law.
In an interview with podcaster Tucker Carlson aired on Friday, Huckabee discussed biblical interpretations within the U.S. Christian nationalist movement and said Israel would be justified in taking broad control of the region.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Fuad Majali said the statements were “reckless and inflammatory,” breached diplomatic norms and undermined the sovereignty of states in the region. He added they contradicted U.S. President Donald Trump’s stated opposition to the annexation of the occupied West Bank.
The ministry reiterated that the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip are occupied Palestinian territories under international law, adding ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the basis of a two-state solution remained the only path to a just and comprehensive peace.
