Jordan demands firm action from UN to stop Israeli aggression on Gaza

Jordan Daily – Jordan’s UN envoy, Mahmoud Hmoud, on Tuesday condemned Israel’s ongoing aggression against Gaza, calling it a “blatant disregard” for international calls to halt the war.

In a speech to the UN Security Council, Hmoud stated Israel of engaging in “ethnic cleansing and genocide” in northern Gaza, in full view of the international community. He claimed Israel was attempting to impose a new reality in the area through force.

Hmoud urged the Security Council to take firm and decisive action against Israeli crimes, calling for a binding resolution to enforce a ceasefire in Gaza and provide protection for Palestinians.

He stressed that a lack of accountability and impunity encouraged Israel’s hardline government to continue violating international law, including Security Council resolutions and international humanitarian law.

He warned that ignoring Israel’s actions and failing to launch a genuine effort to stop them would embolden violators of international law and undermine the principles the United Nations stands for.

Hmoud called for an end to Israel’s aggression on Gaza, a halt to arms supplies to Israel, and the imposition of sanctions on the extremist Israeli government. He argued that Israel’s actions posed a threat to both regional and global peace and security.

He also urged the international community to take collective and individual measures to compel Israel to comply with rulings from the International Court of Justice.
