Jordan Daily – An emergency international conference, aimed at addressing the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, is set to take place on June 11, hosted by Jordan and co-organized by Egypt and the United Nations. The conference, titled “Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza”, will be held at the King Hussein bin Talal Convention Center at the Dead Sea.
The conference is convened at the invitation of His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres. It will bring together heads of state and government, as well as leaders of international humanitarian and relief organizations.
The primary objective of the conference is to identify strategies to enhance the international community’s response to the humanitarian disaster unfolding in the Gaza Strip. The war in Gaza has led to extreme suffering among its population of over 2.3 million Palestinians, with threats of famine, widespread trauma, unprecedented levels of destruction, and lack of access to basic necessities such as food, water, shelter, and medicine.
In addition to identifying effective measures and procedures, the conference will also focus on outlining the operational and logistical needs required to address the crisis. It seeks to secure a commitment for a collective, coordinated response to alleviate the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
