Jordan Daily – Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Yarub Al-Qudah, stated that the new U.S. tariffs are a global policy that imposes customs duties on imports to the U.S. from several countries around the world, and it is not aimed solely at Jordan.
He noted that the new tariff policy will undoubtedly affect Jordanian exports to the U.S. market. However, he emphasized that the government has already started exploring solutions to enhance the competitiveness of relevant economic sectors in light of the recent U.S. decisions, aiming to address any challenges and maintain the competitiveness of Jordanian exports and the strategic economic relationship with the United States.
Al-Qudah reaffirmed that Jordan maintains close ties with the U.S. and values its partnership, adding that the country will continue to work toward achieving positive and constructive results for both sides through ongoing dialogue with U.S. stakeholders.
He also highlighted that the 25-year Free Trade Agreement between Jordan and the U.S. has significantly contributed to boosting Jordanian exports to the U.S. market while also encouraging U.S. exports to Jordan.
The minister emphasized the importance of the agreement in helping Jordan’s sectors increase their exports and concluded by expressing Jordan’s commitment to increasing exports and enhancing bilateral trade with the U.S. in the near future.
