Jordan Daily – Jordan has suspended all flights by its airlines to Mitiga Airport in Tripoli due to escalating violence in the Libyan capital, the head of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, Haitham Misto said on Thursday.
Misto said the move, taken days ago, was to ensure the safety of passengers and crews. Libyan flights from Tripoli to Jordan have also been halted.
Misto added that flights to Benghazi continue as normal and that operations to Tripoli will resume once security conditions improve.
Tripoli has seen fierce clashes between forces loyal to the Government of National Unity and the Special Deterrence Force, prompting a state of emergency and flight diversions to Misrata.
