Jordan Daily – Ministry of Education and UNESCO have launched a high-level national policy dialogue to review progress under the 2023–2024 Education Strategic Plan and initiate development of a new roadmap for 2026–2030.
Held in Amman from June 3–4 under the patronage of Minister of Education Prof. Azmi Mahafzah, the event brings together over 200 officials, partners, and education stakeholders to assess system performance and shape future priorities, UNESCO- Amman said in a statement.
The meeting also unveiled Jordan’s first comprehensive Education Sector Analysis (ESA), produced with UNESCO and its International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP), offering a diagnostic of access, quality, equity, and system efficiency across all levels.
Dr. Nawaf Al-Ajarmah, Secretary General for Educational Affairs, speaking on behalf of the Minister, said the review process is “a comprehensive reference document reflecting the significance of results- and evidence-based planning,” adding that it supports “creating an open-minded, innovative generation.”
UNESCO Representative Noha Bawazir called the moment “pivotal,” noting: “It is an opportunity for strategic reflection on how to strengthen systems, close equity gaps, and future-proof education in the Kingdom of Jordan.”
The 2026–2030 Education Strategic Plan will align with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision and the Sustainable Development Goals. It is set to address digital transformation, climate change, and inclusive, quality education from early years to higher education.
The forum includes thematic sessions on gender, equity, quality, and finance, culminating in an aide-memoire of policy recommendations.
The initiative is backed by the Multi-Partner Trust Fund, with support from Canada, Italy, Norway, Switzerland, and the Global Partnership for Education (GPE).
Jordan and UNESCO reaffirmed their shared commitment to building a resilient, inclusive, and future-ready education system.
