Jordan hotels see decline in occupancy amid regional unrest
Jordan Daily – The Jordan Hotels Association reported a drop in occupancy rates at hotels in Amman and the Dead Sea during the second week of this month, noting several hotel closures in Petra since the start of the war on Gaza.
Occupancy rates at five-star hotels stood at 40% in Amman, 25% at the Dead Sea, and 10% in Petra during the second week of September, according to the association’s figures. Four-star hotels saw occupancy of 30% in Amman, 20% at the Dead Sea, and 8% in Petra.
The association attributed the decline in Amman to the end of the holiday season and the return of expatriates to their countries and their works.
It also highlighted multiple hotel closures in Petra since the war in Gaza began, adding that the Dead Sea area saw lower occupancy rates due to cooler temperatures during the week.
