Jordan one step away from historic World Cup spot

By : JD

Jordan Daily – Jordan is on the brink of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup for the first time as the national team face Oman on Thursday in Muscat in a crucial Group B qualifier.

A win for Jordan, combined with an Iraq loss to South Korea, would secure their place at the 2026 tournament. If not, the final chance comes next Tuesday against Iraq in Amman.

The match, kicking off at 7 p.m. local time, has drawn national attention. Crown Prince Hussein has ordered public viewing areas to be set up across the country.

Jordan sit second in its group with 13 points, behind South Korea (16), and ahead of Iraq (12) and Oman (10). The top two teams from each group qualify directly for the World Cup.
