Jordan Daily – Minister of Labor, Khaled Al-Bakkar, announced on Monday that the country’s tripartite labour committee has agreed to raise the minimum wage to JD 290 ($415), effective from January 1, 2025.
The decision was made during a meeting of the committee, which includes representatives from the government, employers, and workers. The increase will apply to employees in the private sector, raising the minimum wage from the current 260 dinars to 290 dinars. The new rate will remain in effect through December 31, 2027.
The committee emphasized its commitment to balancing the need to improve workers’ living standards with the economic conditions faced by employers, particularly in the private sector. The move aims to provide relief to a significant portion of the workforce while ensuring sustainability for businesses.
