Jordan recalls ambassador , demands Israel end Gaza offensive

By : JD

Jordan Daily – Jordan recalled its ambassador in Israel on Wednesday in protest against Israel’s ongoing military offensive in Gaza that has killed thousands of civilians and caused a humanitarian crisis.

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said he had instructed his ministry to tell Israel not to send back its envoy, who had left Jordan earlier for consultations.

He said Jordan would not restore diplomatic ties until Israel stopped its attacks on Gaza and lifted its blockade on the Palestinian enclave, where people lack basic necessities such as food, water and medicine.

Jordan, which has a peace treaty with Israel, also urged an end to the war and a revival of the stalled peace process based on a two-state solution that would create a viable Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
