Jordan reports 10.4-month wheat reserve, expands agri loans and projects

Jordan Daily – Jordan’s strategic wheat reserves are sufficient for 10.4 months, while barley reserves cover 8.5 months, according to the Q1 report of the Economic Modernization Vision 2023–2025.

The report said JD1.3 million in loans were granted for rain-fed and irrigated farmland to 114 borrowers, while JD6.9 million supported 1,273 beneficiaries in livestock and aquaculture.

Key developments include the launch of the National Seed Bank, a stone fruit packaging alliance in Irbid, and a new animal feed factory in Mafraq.

In the Jordan Valley, a date packaging project was launched, and land leases signed for sorting and packing facilities.

The government selected 45 new sites for water harvesting projects and approved the 2025 Cooperative Law.

Industrial expansions include the leasing of industrial city and installation of a tomato concentrate production line in Ghor al-Safi.

A citrus cold storage tender was issued, and lawmakers passed a law to expand coverage of the Agricultural Risk Fund.

Around one million trees were planted for the 2024–2025 season, with afforestation agreements signed with the German Development Bank and for barren lands in Amman under the national 10-million-tree campaign.
