Jordan to issue electronic passport

Jordan Daily – A meeting was held at the Ministry of Interior today, Sunday, attended by Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmed Al-Hanandeh, and the Director General of the Civil Status and Passports Department Fahd Al-Amoush, along with several other stakeholders.

In a statement , the meeting announced the tender for issuing Jordanian electronic passports in line with international standards and also in accordance with the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization.

This development marks a qualitative leap in the services provided by the Civil Status and Passports Department to citizens, and at the same time, it ensures the facilitation of entry procedures for Jordanians through border centers around the world.

The electronic passport is considered a qualitative addition in terms of increasing the ranking of the Jordanian passport globally according to international standards.

It is worth noting that the company to which the tender was referred will commence its work in the coming days after obtaining the direct order in accordance with legal procedures. The tender will be executed within a maximum period of 250 working days, according to the statement.
