Jordan welcomes appointment of Hussein Al-Sheikh as Palestine’s deputy president

Jordan Daily – Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the appointment of Hussein Al-Sheikh as deputy chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and deputy president of the State of Palestine, calling it an important step within ongoing reform efforts.

In a statement, ministry spokesperson Ambassador Sufian Qudah reiterated Jordan’s support for Palestinian initiatives aimed at strengthening political efforts to secure the rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Qudah also expressed Jordan’s best wishes to Al-Sheikh in his new role.
