Jordan Daily – Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed Belgium’s announcement that it intends to officially recognize the State of Palestine during this month’s United Nations General Assembly, calling it a “significant step” in support of international efforts toward a two-state solution.
Spokesperson Fuad Majali praised the Belgian Foreign Minister’s move Maxime Prévot as a measure to uphold the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to self-determination and the establishment of a sovereign state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Majali also highlighted the upcoming Saudi-French sponsored Two-State Solution conference at the UN, aimed at rallying international support for further recognition of Palestine, reaffirming Jordan’s steadfast commitment to working with regional and global partners to achieve Palestinian freedom, justice, and statehood, and to end occupation on Palestinian land.
