Jordan Daily – Hamdeh Karim Al-Tawayha, the president of the Jafr Women’s Charitable Society, has been awarded first place in the Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for Productive Families.
This prestigious recognition is bestowed upon the best productive family across the Arab world. Al-Tawayha’s success is attributed to her involvement with the Hashemite Fund for the Jordanian Badia Development , which provided oversight, training, rehabilitation, and empowerment, ultimately leading to her nomination for the award.
The society initially received a grant from the fund in 2016 for a handicraft project. The women underwent a training course on the stages of clay and pottery manufacturing, from shaping to designing patterns and figures on the final product.
Al-Tawayha expressed her gratitude for the fund, chaired by Her Highness Princess Basma bint Ali. She emphasized that the fund has been a significant moral and financial supporter of her work. The continuous visits by the fund to the society to inspect and follow up on projects have played a pivotal role in the society’s success and the diversification of its productive projects.
She further revealed that the fund provided financial support amounting to JD 14,000 for establishing a “Handicrafts Project ,” she began began receiving training in traditional handicrafts and heritage textiles, among other crafts.
Following the training and qualification phase, Al-Tuwayha embarked on a journey of production and success. She involved the local women in various productive projects, including spinning sheep and camel wool, sewing, creating traditional Arabic seating areas, rugs, cushions, horse saddles, bridal trousseaus, and producing Bedouin tents that have reached several Arab countries.
