Jordan Daily – A Jordanian nurse was injured on Wednesday after Israeli shelling struck near Jordan’s field hospital in southern Gaza, the army said.
The nurse, hit by shrapnel while inside the hospital, sustained injuries to his left hand and right thigh, and underwent surgery, the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) said. He was in moderate condition and was set to be evacuated to Jordan later in the day.
Foreign Ministry condemned the strike as a “blatant violation” of international law, including the 1949 Geneva Convention. Spokesperson Sufian Qudah said Israel bears “full responsibility for ensuring the safety of medical personnel and civilians.”
Qudah described the shelling as part of “a wider pattern of war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces in Gaza,” including attacks on hospitals and aid workers. He urged the international community to act decisively to halt Israeli violations and ensure humanitarian access to the Strip, which he said faces an “unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.”
The Jordanian Nursing Council also condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with the injured nurse and his family.
