Jordanian women a cornerstone in building and protecting the country

Jordan Daily – On International Women’s Day, it’s crucial to reflect on the indispensable role of Jordanian women- an integral pillar of the country’s stability and progress. Women in Jordan are far from being a passive demographic; they are a transformative force, reshaping society and defending the country’s sovereignty amid internal and external challenges.

In recent years, Jordanian women have proven themselves to be irreplaceable partners in country-building through their active participation in politics, the economy, and culture. Their presence in Parliament has been particularly impactful, contributing to the drafting and enactment of laws that protect and promote women’s rights.

In the workforce, women’s increasing involvement has improved workplace environments, enhancing transparency and accountability, and driving economic growth. Furthermore, Jordanian women stand firmly with the Hashemite leadership, supporting efforts to counter external threats and protect national security. They have become a symbol of national unity, rallying the population behind the leadership in the face of foreign plots that seek to destabilize the region at the expense of Jordan’s dignity and stability.

Beyond their contributions to legislation and economic and social development, Jordanian women have also demonstrated their commitment to Arab solidarity, particularly in their unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. They stand in solidarity with their Palestinian sisters, resisting attempts to undermine Arab sovereignty.

For them, preserving national identity and dignity is not just rhetoric- it is a way of life that demands unity and collective effort. This unity transcends geographic borders, extending across the region as Arab voices come together to reject imposed solutions that disregard the rights of Arab people.

The fabric of Arab unity includes Jordanian women alongside men, as they recognize that their role is central to fostering solidarity and shared destiny across the Arab world. Their struggle is not confined to internal battles but is part of a broader front that defends rights and amplifies the voice of justice throughout the Arab community.

The role of Jordanian women extends far beyond individual participation. It is seen in their leadership in building the nation and their steadfast connection to broader Arab causes that champion justice and equality. As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting our sovereignty and advancing our rights, standing side by side with Palestinian women and all Arab women in their fight for freedom and dignity.

While we acknowledge that the journey toward achieving full rights and lasting equality, built on strong and unwavering foundations, is still in its early stages, we renew our pledge to press forward. With renewed faith and determination, we know that change is coming.
