Jordan Daily – Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission Chief Commissioner Captain Haitham Misto stated on Friday that incoming and outgoing flights to Jordan may experience “delays” due to a global technical glitch affecting air travel.
Misto said, “We expect delays or disruptions in incoming and outgoing flights to international airports, including Jordan,” due to airlines being impacted by the technical issue, according to Al Mamlaka TV.
Misto clarified that systems at Jordanian airports and airspace “were not affected” by the glitch, but it “impacted airlines’ operations concerning passenger boarding and ticketing, which is a digital process.”
He added, “If airlines operating to or from Jordan are affected, it will impact the airline, not the airport or airspace,” emphasizing that “because aviation is interconnected globally, any glitch in one region affects other regions.”
Misto also noted, “Even when operations return to normal and the issue is resolved, the disruption caused by the technical glitch will lead to ‘delayed or postponed flights,’ considering that there are approximately 12 million travelers worldwide daily.”
He pointed out that any delays in flights would carry over to subsequent periods, which also have scheduled flights, leading to “congestion later on.” He warned that “the longer the disruption lasts, the greater the problems will be in the subsequent period.”
On Friday, a global technical glitch disrupted air travel, live TV broadcasts, and oil and gas trading in several countries.
