Jordan Daily – Jordan has become the world’s most water-scarce country, according to Minister of Water and Irrigation, Raed Abu Saud.
Speaking on Jordan TV, Abu Saud emphasized the critical nature of the country’s water situation, highlighting that any project increasing water availability by even one cubic meter is of immense importance to Jordan.
Abu Saud underscored the significance of the National Water Carrier Project, which aims to address Jordan’s water crisis until 2050. “Global standards consider a country with an annual per capita water consumption of 500 cubic meters to be water-poor. In contrast, the current share for Jordanian citizens is just 61 cubic meters,” he stated, indicating the severity of the challenge Jordan faces in securing adequate water resources.
