Jordan Daily – Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) concluded its participation in the ITB Berlin exhibition on Thursday by signing charter flight agreements with several European countries.
The board’s participation in the event, held in the German capital from March 4-6, included 17 tourism offices, five hotels, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), Royal Jordanian Airlines, and the Jordan Heritage Revival Company.
JTB Managing Director Dr. Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat, said the board’s participation was part of ongoing efforts to promote and market Jordan internationally and boost tourism revenues in 2025. He emphasized the importance of tourism as a pillar of Jordan’s economy, in line with the royal vision for economic modernization and the board’s strategy to strengthen existing tourism markets and explore new ones.
“We are proud of our active participation in this significant global event, where Jordan’s pavilion provided an excellent platform to promote the kingdom as a diverse tourism destination that combines history, culture, and stunning nature,” Arabiyat said.
He attended meetings with low-cost and charter airlines, leading to the signing of five agreements that will bring more European tourists to Jordan. Arabiyat noted that these agreements are part of continuous efforts to increase tourist numbers and open new markets, positively impacting the tourism sector and supporting the national economy.
Arabiyat described Jordan’s participation in ITB Berlin 2025 as a crucial step in reinforcing the kingdom’s position as a leading tourist destination. He highlighted Jordan’s focus this year on experiential tourism, sustainability, and the latest developments in the tourism sector.
“We successfully held more than 70 professional meetings with key industry partners, alongside media interviews that helped highlight Jordan as a destination rich in unique and sustainable experiences,” he noted.
Arabiyat pointed out that the German market has shown significant growth in demand for tourism to Jordan, with visitor numbers in January and February 2025 nearing 2019 levels. This increase, he said, reflects Jordan’s ongoing efforts to develop tourism products that align with the preferences of German tourists seeking authentic cultural and natural experiences.
He also emphasized Jordan’s commitment to sustainable tourism, citing the country’s participation in a panel on the Sustainable Tourism platform. Jordan’s efforts in developing eco-tourism and diving in Aqaba, in partnership with the CBI program, were showcased.
Arabiyat stressed the importance of inclusive tourism, noting that Jordan has been working to improve infrastructure for people with disabilities. A ten-year plan was launched in 2019 to upgrade 60% of tourist facilities to be more accessible. In 2023, Jordan welcomed 260,000 tourists with disabilities, highlighting the success of initiatives promoting inclusive travel.
Arabiyat also announced Jordan’s founding membership in the Sustainable Travel Alliance, launched by the Green Destinations Organization to promote global eco-tourism. “We are committed to developing responsible and sustainable tourism experiences that ensure the sector’s growth while preserving natural and cultural resources,” he added.
“We will continue building on our successes by expanding sustainable and adventure tourism and promoting inclusivity within the sector. Our participation in ITB Berlin 2025 is a step toward achieving Jordan’s tourism vision and attracting more visitors seeking exceptional experiences,” Arabiyat concluded.
Jordan’s participation in the exhibition featured a large pavilion that showcased the country’s unique tourism offerings, providing an ideal opportunity to promote various destinations within the kingdom.
The exhibition also included media engagements with global television networks, newspapers, websites, and radio stations from the Jordanian pavilion. These media activities helped broadcast Jordan’s tourism message to a global audience, focusing on the diversity of the country’s tourism products, including religious, archaeological, medical, wellness, adventure, and community tourism.
