
Jordan Daily – Surgeon Mohammad Khrais has successfully performed a sleeve gastrectomy on a 38-year-old Palestinian man weighing 340 kg, Al-Kindi Hospital said on Tuesday.
The laparoscopic procedure, which lasted one hour and 15 minutes, followed full heart and lung examinations carried out with cardiology and respiratory specialists. The hospital said the patient recovered without complications, did not require intensive care, and is expected to be discharged within three days.
Khrais who led a medical team, noted that Al-Kindi Hospital had previously treated patients with even higher body weights, including 380 kg and 400 kg, using advanced bariatric surgery techniques designed for high-risk cases.
The hospital said it is equipped to manage extreme obesity cases with specialized beds and operating tables that can support patients weighing up to 500 kg.
Al-Kindi is a private hospital offering a range of medical services including bariatric and plastic surgery, cardiac and vascular surgery, fertility treatment, organ transplantation, interventional radiology, and cancer screening.
