Jordan Daily – Former Lebanese Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt stated on Sunday that King Abdullah II is actively seeking a ceasefire in Gaza through extensive Arab and international contacts.

In an interview with “Al-Mamlaka,” TV,  Jumblatt emphasized that a ceasefire in Gaza could prevent a broader war in Lebanon, although he noted that the conflict is escalating and affecting almost all areas of Lebanon.

Jumblatt accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of defying the international community with his ongoing war in Gaza. He praised King Abdullah’s significant efforts, including communications with the Emir of Qatar, the Egyptian president, and other international leaders, to halt the conflict.

Jumblatt also condemned a report by the British newspaper, The Telegraph, alleging weapon storage at Beirut’s Rafic Hariri Airport, calling it “shameful and dangerous.” He accused the the newspaper of “promoting war,” stating that “some parties want war in Lebanon and beyond.”

King Abdullah II met with Jumblatt on Sunday, warning of the dangers of escalating regional conflicts and underscoring the importance of Lebanon’s stability and security.
