Jordan Daily – His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan has instructed the government to prepare a draft law for a general pardon, marking the Silver Jubilee of his constitutional reign and ascension to the throne, according to a royal directives issued on Wednesday.

The King emphasized the draft law should uphold public interest, protect personal and civil rights, adhere to the principles of justice and rule of law, and not compromise national security or societal peace.

He expressed optimism that the proposed law could alleviate citizens’ burdens, assist those who have “strayed from the path of righteousness” in correcting their course, and foster a spirit of positivity and tolerance in society, promoting the concept of reconciliatory justice.

The King underscored the potential of the general pardon, once enacted, to serve as a catalyst for change, encouraging individuals to reintegrate into society and actively respect the law and citizens’ rights.
