King, Kazakhstan president attend closing session of Kazakhstan-Jordan Business Forum

Jordan Daily – His Majesty King Abdullah II and Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev attended the closing session of the Kazakhstan-Jordan Business Forum in Astana on Wednesday.

The forum explored investment opportunities and the development of economic partnerships, with the participation of some 200 representatives of companies and economic institutions from both countries, including representatives of 44 Jordanian companies operating in the fields of pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, agricultural products, and mining.

During the session attended by His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, His Majesty’s chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy His Majesty noted the importance of strengthening economic cooperation between Jordan and Kazakhstan, in line with their strong diplomatic relations.

The King praised the progress Kazakhstan has made over the years, under President Tokayev’s leadership.

His Majesty highlighted that Kazakhstan is a country rich in natural resources and industrial vision, noting the opportunity to build an economic bridge between Central Asia and the Middle East, with Jordan’s strategic location and strengths in the areas of services, logistics, and innovation.

Noting the diversity of sectors participating in the forum, the King highlighted the significant opportunities for partnership in the fields of pharmaceuticals, agriculture, food products, mining, logistics, tourism, and others.

His Majesty emphasized the importance of both countries’ governments and chambers of commerce and industry working to facilitate the progress of dialogue during the forum into actionable outcomes, in order to sustain its impact and initiate tangible projects, long-term partnerships and mutual prosperity.

The King invited representatives of Kazakh companies participating in the forum to visit Jordan and explore opportunities offered by the Kingdom.

For his part, the Kazakh president expressed his appreciation for His Majesty’s interest and commitment to strengthening close cooperation between Kazakhstan and Jordan.

He also commended the King’s wisdom and enlightened vision, adding that the world needs more leaders like His Majesty.

President Tokayev praised the successful outcome of the forum, which marks a new stage in the economic partnership between the two countries, expressing his appreciation to the Jordanian delegation and representatives of the business community.

He also highlighted that Kazakhstan’s economy is the largest in the region, with a growth rate of 6.3 per cent in the first seven months of this year, and strong performance in the trade, industry, and transport sectors, noting that there are promising opportunities for cooperation with Jordan in the transport and logistics, nuclear energy, agriculture, pharmaceutical, and technology sectors.

The King also visited Astana Hub, the largest start-up hub in Central Asia’s ICT sector, and listened to a briefing on companies working in the fields of government services, e-learning, logistics, and the use of technology in law enforcement.
