King meets with former PMs to discuss regional developments, New York visit

Jordan Daily – His Majesty King Abdullah II, during a meeting with former prime ministers at Al Husseiniya Palace on Sunday, affirmed that Jordan is fully prepared to protect its sovereignty and security, according to a royal court statement.

During the meeting, His Majesty discussed developments in the region, and highlighted the outcomes of his productive visit to New York last week where he attended the United Nations General Assembly meetings.

The King said Jordan is working in coordination with Arab and active partners on the details of the comprehensive plan for Gaza presented by United States President Donald Trump last week during a multilateral meeting with Arab and Muslim leaders, emphasising that many of its details are in line with what has been agreed upon.

His Majesty noted the close rapport among Arab and Muslim leaders, as well as the convergence of views with active partners on developments in the region, particularly the Palestinian cause and the situation in Gaza, highlighting the international consensus on the two-state solution as the only way to achieve peace in the region.

The meeting covered Israel’s attack against Qatar, with the King asserting that this aggression carries a clear message, aimed at terrorising the region through force, noting that the aggression has damaged Israel’s relations with other countries in the region.

The meeting also touched on developments in Syria and Lebanon, and Jordan’s support for these countries’ efforts to preserve their sovereignty and stability.

Speaking about the Kingdom’s modernisation efforts, His Majesty said Jordan is moving ahead with its three modernisation tracks, despite the challenging regional circumstances, and emphasised the importance of completing economic projects that are currently in progress.

The meeting included former prime ministers Ahmad Obeidat, Abdel Karim Kabariti, Abdur-Rau’f Rawabdeh, Ali Abu Al Ragheb, Faisal Fayez, Adnan Badran, Nader Dahabi, Awn Khasawneh, Abdullah Ensour, Hani Mulqi, and Bisher Khasawneh.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and General Intelligence Department Director Maj. Gen. Ahmad Husni attended the meeting.
