Jordan Daily – Ministry of Water and Irrigation, in partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has launched a $10.34 million project to rehabilitate water supply networks in the Mastaba district of Jerash Governorate.
The project, funded by KOICA, targets the areas of Al-Mastaba, Umm Rumaneh, Marsa’, and Jubbah. It supports Jordan’s 2023–2040 Water Sector Strategy and the Government’s Economic Modernization Vision, aiming to improve water distribution, reduce losses, and enhance efficiency.
“This project will enhance service quality for residents by shifting to natural flow pumping, which extends the lifespan of the networks and improves the efficiency and equity of water distribution,” said Minister of Water and Irrigation Raed Abu Saud in a statement released by the Korean embassy.

The 730-day project includes installing 8.5 km of ductile iron pipes from Umm Rumaneh to Marsa’, 81 km of polyethylene pipes, 15,000 household connections, and 600 water meters. It also involves new valves and pump replacements at key stations.
Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Kim Pil-woo called the project “a significant step forward in the shared commitment to addressing one of the most pressing challenges facing Jordan today.” He added, “Water and irrigation has been a central pillar of Korea’s support for Jordan’s socio-economic development.”
The Minister expressed gratitude for Korea’s support, emphasizing ongoing efforts to work with donors and local contractors to meet rising water demand and improve service delivery across the Kingdom.
