Jordan Daily – Libyan social activist Hanan Kadoshi participated in the third Global Disability Summit in Berlin, representing parent advocates for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
In her deliberations, she told Jordan Daily, Kadoshi underscored the importance of self-advocacy, highlighting the need to develop skills and capabilities that empower people with disabilities to make independent decisions. She called for stronger governmental and civil society support to enhance access to education, communication, employment, and training, stressing that these measures are essential for fostering independent living.
During the summit, Kadoshi attended panel discussions on political participation, decent work, independent living, women’s rights, and self-advocacy for people with disabilities. She also took part in a session on the role of technology in empowering individuals with disabilities, particularly in education, employment, and communication.
Additionally, she engaged in the Arab regional session on the second Arab Decade for Persons with Disabilities, which featured contributions from Arab social affairs ministers and the Arab League. The summit’s opening session, as well as side meetings with key stakeholders and advocacy organizations, were also on her agenda.
Kadoshi explored the exhibition held on the sidelines of the summit showcasing the latest assistive technologies, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence and advancements in prosthetics.
