Jordan Daily – Musa Al-Ma’aytah, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, emphasized the need for collective efforts to enhance women’s participation in political life and address challenges hindering their effective engagement in the electoral process as voters, and candidates.
In a statement released by the commission on Saturday, Al-Maaytah underscored during a workshop on ” “addressing electoral violence against women”, that promoting women’s involvement in politics is a shared responsibility among the Commission, political parties, civil society institutions, and the media.
The Chairman highlighted that the new political system in the country has prioritized empowering women and youth, recognizing them as vital drivers of development. However, he pointed out that electoral violence remains a significant obstacle limiting women’s participation in parties and elections.
