Jordan Daily – Dr. Mohammad Abu Amara, a member of the Private School Owners Association said that only a small fraction, around 2%, of all private schools are highly profitable institutions with exceptionally high fees.
During a televised interview, Abu Amara pointed out that there are just about 100 private schools out of a total of 4,000 that charge annual tuition fees exceeding JD 10,000.
He also emphasized that most private schools are actually small-scale ventures run by individuals, often retired from the education field. These schools commonly face financial challenges like debts to banks and delayed payments from students’ families.
“This situation leads to problems like postponed teacher salaries, difficulties in covering day-to-day expenses, and struggle in repaying project-related debts,” Abu Amara noted.
