Minister Al – Shamali: Syria blocks trade at Nassib Crossing despite reopening

Jordan Daily – Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Youssef Al-Shamali, announced on Saturday that Jordan is open to trade exchange with Syria. However, he stated that the Syrian authorities have been obstructing the entry of Jordanian goods, despite the reopening of the Nassib border crossing.

Al-Shamali emphasized that Jordan has made every effort to facilitate the reopening of the crossing.

In a statement , during his visit to the Irbid Chamber of Commerce, Minister Al-Shamali highlighted the historical relations between Jordan and Syria. He also mentioned that Jordan played a pivotal role in welcoming Syria back to the Arab League.

Al-Shamali reaffirmed the government’s support for restoring trade exchange with Syria. Nonetheless, he stressed that any trade activities should be carried out on the basis of a balanced relationship, “ensuring equality and fairness between both countries.”
