Ministry of Planning, CPF ink agreement to fund “42 Irbid” tech initiative

Jordan Daily – Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan signed an agreement with CEO of Crown Prince Foundation (CPF), Dr. Tamam Mango, to finance the implementation of “42 Irbid” for JD 572,000.

42 is a free computer programming school operating under the Crown Prince Foundation’s pathway to economic participation. The first part of the program was established in Amman and is targeting the training of Jordan’s next generation of coders and problem solvers. It is part of the global network of “Ecole 42” that was established in Paris in 2013 and has now expanded to over 54 locations across 31 countries.

The innovative education concept is built on a gamified coding approach with no teachers, classrooms or lectures targeting talents over the age of 18 regardless of gender, background, education or origin.

During the singing, Minister Toukan stated that the agreement in line with ongoing government efforts to target young Jordanians and support them to get the skills they need to access the job market. She also highlighted the importance of creating successful partnerships with national entities that can deliver unique opportunities to young people across the Kingdom.

Toukan indicated that the Ministry’s financing of this project is part of ongoing support to various local and community development initiatives and is in line with priorities under the Executive Program for the Economic Modernisation Vision (2023-2025) that target the development of the ICT sector within the Smart Jordan and Future Services drivers.

In turn Mango expressed her gratitude to the Ministry for their support to “42 Irbid” which followed previous support to “42 Amman”. She also highlighted that the expansion of the program was in response growing demand, indicating that the “42 Amman” program received over 10,000 applications from across Kingdom.

Mango also stated that the Crown Prince Foundation works in partnership with organizations to achieved shared goals and deliver maximum impact in all of Jordan’s governorates, and that this program is essential to bridging the gap between technological advancements and the changing job market.

In 2023 the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation signed a JD 445,00 financing agreement to support “42 Amman”.

“42 Amman” is connected to international curricula with lifetime, worldwide updates. The structure of the program allows students to learn coding and use their knowledge practically and alongside their peers throughout 42 campuses across the globe.
