Jordan Daily – MP Saleh Al-Armouti has decided to reverse his earlier decision not to run in the parliamentary elections after meeting with leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Islamic Action Front Party, signifying his intent to run.
Mr. Al-Armouti said that a delegation of Islamic leaders visited him at his home on Tuesday. He added that the Islamists plan to present a single list in Amman’s second district, with him at the top of the list, according to party leaders.
Mr. Al-Armouti had previously announced that he would not run in the upcoming parliamentary elections, having gathered his papers and vacated his office in the House of Representatives. He later reversed this decision due to mounting pressure but announced three days ago that he did not wish to run for the 20th House of Representatives.
In recent days, several national, nationalist, and leftist figures have contacted Al-Armouti, urging him to reconsider his decision and to run in the next elections.
