Jordan Daily – King Abdullah’s speech at the emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha marked “a new roadmap” for collective security in the region, warning that Israeli aggression had expanded beyond Palestine to threaten Arab Gulf states, lawmaker Zuhair Khashman said on Monday.
Speaking at the summit, the King said the assault on Qatar showed “the Israeli threat knows no borders,” adding: “Qatar’s security is our security, its stability is our stability, and our support is absolute.”
Khashman, head of the Parliamentary Bloc of Centrist Parties said the king’s words went beyond diplomatic solidarity and represented “an announcement that Arab security is indivisible, and that an attack on one state is an attack on all.”
The king urged Arab and Muslim leaders to reassess joint tools to confront what he called “the danger of this extremist Israeli government,” stressing the need for political action, economic pressure and a unified deterrence strategy.
“His Majesty’s speech was not just a summit address but a declaration of a new regional strategy,” Khashman said in a statement seen by Jordan Daily. “He made clear that our response must be decisive and deterrent, otherwise Arab capitals will remain exposed to Israeli firepower.”
The bloc voiced full support for the king’s position, calling for his proposals to be turned into a joint programme aimed at halting the war on Gaza, preventing the displacement of Palestinians and safeguarding Jerusalem and other holy sites.
“His message was clear: this summit must produce concrete decisions to confront the danger of Israel’s extremist government. The time for statements is over; it is time for action,” Khashman noted.
