Jordan Daily – The National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) and Advance Consulting signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday aimed at improving agricultural productivity and promoting environmental sustainability.
The agreement is part of the Netherlands’ second agricultural support project for Jordan, in collaboration with Wageningen University in the Netherlands.
The project seeks to introduce agricultural innovations and solutions to address challenges faced by the sector, while ensuring the involvement of all key stakeholders.
NARC Director General Khaled Abu Hammour said the Ministry of Agriculture has been committed to strengthening applied scientific research and building the capacities of researchers through partnerships with local and international stakeholders. The initiative also aims to transfer agricultural knowledge and modern technologies to farmers, supporting comprehensive agricultural development.
Abu Hammour added that the agreement will enable farmers to benefit from research findings on crop rotation and compost usage at the Khalidiya research station in Mafraq and the Karama station in the Jordan Valley.
Regional Director of Advance Consulting Lamia Dabbas noted that NARC has become an attractive hub for scientific research development, thanks to its effective management and experienced researchers. She emphasized the importance of further collaboration with NARC to serve the agricultural sector.
