NARC, Chinese delegation discuss smart farming collaboration

Jordan Daily – The National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) is in talks with a Chinese delegation to collaborate on smart agriculture technology, according to NARC Director General Dr. Khaled Abu Hammour.

The delegation, which included private sector representatives, the Chairman and consultants of China Green Intelligent Agriculture Co., Ltd. as well as members of the Jibreen Group, discussed potential collaboration during a recent meeting.

Dr. Abu Hammour highlighted NARC’s goal of transferring modern technology and knowledge, particularly in smart agriculture, covering all stages of production- from seed planting to harvesting-using robot-based systems. He noted that this cutting-edge technology is the first of its kind in the region, aimed at increasing productivity and enhancing the development of high-performance seeds that can adapt to diverse agricultural conditions. The initiative is expected to bolster agricultural sustainability and land productivity.

During the discussions, Dr. Abu Hammour expressed NARC’s readiness to collaborate with the Chinese delegation on establishing a model smart farm at its research stations across Jordan. Both parties also explored the possibility of joint research projects in smart farming.

Eng. Jin Lee, CEO of China Green Intelligent Agriculture Co., Ltd., praised NARC’s leadership in applying research and modern technologies to support agriculture and promote sustainable development. He said the collaboration would strengthen agricultural research and position NARC as a regional hub for smart farming.
