Jordan Daily – Agriculture Minister Khaled Al-Hneifat oversaw the signing of an agreement between the National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) and ECO Consult as part of an agricultural development project funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and implemented by ACTED.
The agreement was signed by NARC Director General Khaled Abu Hammour and ECO Consult Founder and CEO Raed Al-Daoud.
Al-Hneifat said the Ministry of Agriculture aims to empower local communities and small-scale farmers through partnerships with local and international stakeholders. The initiative aligns with King Abdullah II’s Economic Modernization Vision, which focuses on driving economic development and creating jobs in rural and bedouin areas.
The agreement will benefit 600 small farmers by providing knowledge transfer, training, and capacity-building through NARC. It will also support joint research, promote agricultural innovation, and create market opportunities through the National Olive Festival.
Abu Hammour said the agreement is key to improving agricultural value chains and post-harvest processes. It will focus on building farmers’ capacities in Irbid, Balqaa, Ajloun, Madaba, and South Amman.
Al-Daoud praised the partnership, highlighting the Ministry’s role in promoting sustainable agricultural development and job creation in the governorates. He noted that the Ministry is helping to reduce unemployment by expanding the agricultural sector.
