Jordan Daily – The National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) , in collaboration with the Arab Atomic Energy Agency (AAEA), organized a workshop on Monday on the use of radioactive and stable isotopes in optimizing water consumption.
The workshop saw the participation of 21 researchers from Jordan, Bahrain, Tunisia, Lebanon, Syria, Oman, and Iraq.
Dr. Nizar Haddad, the General Director of the center, stated that the center continuously seeks to establish relationships with agricultural research centers in Arab countries for the purpose of exchanging experiences, enriching research ideas, and benefiting from similar experiences.
Dr. Yahya Al-Shakhatreh, the representative of (AAEA) , praised the fruitful cooperation with NARC in various agricultural sciences , pointing out the scientific status and technical expertise of the center’s staff regionally and internationally, in addition to the success achieved by the agricultural innovation and entrepreneurship incubator in supporting the agricultural sector.
Dr. Nabil Bani Hani, the Director of Laboratories at the center, explained that the aim of the workshop is to train on improving the efficiency of water and fertilizer use using radioactive isotopes.
He clarified that the workshop will include practical training on the operation mechanism of the lysimeter, soil moisture sensors, an overview of weather monitoring stations, smart irrigation systems, and an introduction to crops in the Jordan Valley.
